Galway Bay fm newsroom – The oral hearing on Apple’s planned data centre in Athenry has been told that the development will not affect private water supplies in the area.
In her statement to the hearing this morning, geologist Catherine Buckley said the presence of buildings and associated infrastructure at the Derrydonnell site will not change the volume of water available for abstraction at off-site wells.
She says the surface water drainage system has been designed to capure all rainfall that falls on impermeable areas and discharge it back to the ground.
This will ensure that there will be no net change in the volume of water leaving the site, so local private supplies will not be affected.
The hearing continues.
