Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public meeting on how to manage medical conditions and remain safe on the road for longer will take place in the city this evening.
The event is organised by the Royal college of Physicians in association with the Road Safety Authority to explore medical fitness to drive guidelines.
Discussions will explore a range of conditions relating to health and driving including diabetes, vision, epilepsy, physical mobility, medication, cardiac and sleep apnoea.
A presentation will be given on a survey carried in Galway on cognitive impairment and driving, and the Road Safety Authority will also be present to answer questions.
The public meeting will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the city this evening at 6.30.
Clinical Director for traffic medicine and geriatric consultant Professor Desmond O’ Neill says there are a lot of myths circulating about older drivers.
