Galway Bay fm newsroom – An Athenry campaign group which claims to have over 1400 members has voiced its support for the planned Apple data centre outside the town.
The group is among at least 12 individuals or organisations who will address the An Bord Pleanala oral hearing taking place in the city.
The hearing got underway at the Connacht Hotel yesterday under inspector Stephen Kay, and is expected to continue until the end of the week.
The ‘Athenry for Apple’ group says there’s been a huge swell of support for the development, which could help to boost the town which it says is ‘dying.’
Other individuals and organisations have been making observations and submissions on the development today – most of the concerns relate to energy usage and environmental impacts
The hearing continues today.
