Work on new road surface in Oranmore to begin tomorrow

Galway bay Fm newsroom-Work on a laying a new road surface in Oranmore will begin tomorrow. (Mon 16/5)
A thin overlay will be put down on Main Street from the Dublin Road junction to Castle Street funded by Irish Water and the county council.
It follows months of works carried out in the village by Irish Water.
The new overlay will improve the road surface along Main Street in the short-term however long term plans for Main Street to the Maree Road are at advance design stage.
This will include revised parking and footpaths including pedestrian crossings.
250 thousand euro has been allocated for town improvement works in Oranmore with an additional 70 thousand euro for road pavement works.
Local area councillors have prioritised works at Dublin Road from the Community centre to the village, which will include drainage and new footpaths.
The work at Dublin Road is expected to begin late in the summer. (Aug/Sept)
Councillor Martina Kinane says the work on the new overlay for Main Street should be complete in a couple of days.
