Galway Bay fm newsroom – Dozens of water protesters gathered in the city this afternoon to burn their water bills beneath a cloudless blue sky.
The public event was organised by Right2Water Galway, to reinforce the groups belief that Irish Water should be completely scrapped.
Up to 50 people carrying a varied range of banners and plaques cheered as bills were cast into a charcoal bin at the top of Eyre Square.
Their statement comes as the government insists that customers remain liable for water charges incurred up to the end of the June billing cycling.
