Galway Bay Fm newsroom- The government is being urged to extend the Wild Atlantic Way route into the towns and villages of East Galway.
The matter has been raised in the Seanad by Galway Senator Lorraine Higgins.
She says the Wild Atlantic Way should be developed further through the addition of off-shoot routes into the east of the county:
In response, Junior Tourism Minister Michael Ring says the development of the Wild Atlantic Way is the responsibility of Fáilte Ireland.
He says the popular attraction was always intended as a coastal route, but inland towns and villages interested in buying into its success are welcome to work with Fáilte Ireland to attract visitors.
