Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway TD is branding the compromise reached between Fine Gael and Fianna Fail on water charges as ‘a solution that beggars belief’.
Galway West Deputy Catherine Connolly claims that the measure only serves to create further uncertainty over Irish Water and ignores the voice of the Irish people.
She says that Fianna Fail seem to want it every way – with many of the parties members expressing conflicting opinions on the controversial charges.
Speaking in the Dail, she also took exception to Minister Alan Kelly’s defence of Irish Water, which she branded arrogant, self-serving and contemptuous.
The Independent deputy told the chamber that the overwhelming lack of water conservation measures in place are a clear indication that there is no dedication to the issue.
Deputy Connolly says that the compromise reached by Fianna Fail and Fine Gael is missing the point completely.
