Galway Bay fm newsroom – Sinn Féin’s Trevor O’ Clochartaigh looks sets to retain his seat in the Seanad.
The first count for the 11-seat Agricultural Panel has just been completed with a quota of 93 thousand 667.
Trevor O’ Clochartaigh’s party colleague, Rose Conway-Walsh a councillor from Mayo has been elected to the Seanad after the first count having exceeded the quota with 98 thousand first preference votes.
The second count in now underway with Trevor O’ Clochartaigh on course to secure a seat coming in third in terms of first preference votes after the first count.
Last night, Galway’s two candidates for the Cultural and Education Panel – Fianna Fáil colleagues, John Connolly and Cllr Séamus Walsh, failed to be elected to the Seanad.
