Galway Bay fm newsroom – The tri-colour will be raised at County Hall in the next hour (1pm) kicking off a week-long programme of events to mark Galway’s military involvement in the 1916 Rising.
‘Remembering the Rising’ will get underway with a public flag raising ceremony at County Hall at 1pm, led by the Defence Forces.
The flag raising ceremony will be followed by a special 1916 commemorative meeting of the County Council.
This evening, the local authority will hold a reception for the relatives of the Galway men and women of 1916.
