Galway Bay fm newsroom – Cardiovascular experts from around the globe will meet in Galway this weekend to discuss international strategies for the prevention of disease.
The 2nd annual meeting of the National Institute of Preventive Cardiology will discuss strategies for the prevention of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and obesity.
Over 200 delegates from around the world are expected to attend the event, which is organised by City-based heart and stroke charity Croi and NUI Galway.
Croi will launch it’s five year outcomes report at the event to showcase the benefit of prevention measures.
Speakers will include President of the World Heart Foundation, Professor David Wood, leading international cardiac expert Professor Kathy Berra, and RTE’s John Bowman.
The conference will take place tomorrow at the Croi Heart and Stroke Center at Newcastle in the city.
CEO Neil Johnson says increased awareness of disease prevention is crucial.
