Galway Bay fm newsroom – A jury has heard that a Carraroe man accused of murdering his brother was “utterly delusional”
Declan O’Cualain with an address at An Caoran Beag, An Cheathru Rua is charged with murdering Adrian Folan at Lislorkin North, Liscannor, Co Clare on July 4 2014.
On Monday at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin Mr O’Cualain pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Folan by reason of insanity.
Adrian Folan was 41 years of age and attending Athlone IT as a mature student when he was reported missing on July 3rd, 2014.
Searches took place in Athlone and Galway until his body was discovered buried beneath rocks at a quarry near the Cliffs of Moher four days later.
Today the court heard that 41-year-old Declan O’Cualain became “fixated with paedophilia” and held the baseless delusion that his brother was a person “afflicted with this difficulty and may have sexually abused a sibling”
The trial is being presided over by Ms Justice Margaret Heneghan.
