Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway and Mayo fire services have battled a number of gorse fires in the Connemara area this morning.
The alarm was raised around 6.30a.m when vegetation was seen burning at locations in Recess, Leenane and between Oughterard and Maam.
Units from the city, Clifden and Westport brought the gorse fires under control with a couple of hours.
Meanwhile, Galway fire brigade attended at house fire overnight.
The electrical fire started at Corrib House in Shantalla around 12.45 this morning, but fire crews quickly brought it under control.
