Galway Bay fm newsroom – Irish Water says it plans to have the roads through Oranmore village reinstated by the end of the month following a major watermains upgrade.
The reinstatement works are being carried out in conjunction with Galway County Council.
Road repairs are taking place today at Castle Street, while works will begin at the petrol station on Main Street tomorrow.
There’ll be a stop-go system in operation tomorrow to facilitate trench reinstatement at the junction on the inner Dublin Road near the Bank of Ireland.
On Friday, the filling-in of the trench will continue on Main Street beyond the Dublin Road junction towards the roundabout.
Access will be maintained for business from one side at all times.
After a weekend break, works will resume on Monday at Main Street.
On Tuesday, contractors will continue the trench on Coast Road beyond the roundabout towards the end of the island.
The final reinstatement works will be carried out at the Old Dublin Road on Wednesday next, and a stop-go system will be in operation.
Irish Water says the estimated dates for the works are a guide only, and may change depending on weather conditions.
It says the contractor has also agreed to avoid full road closures unless absolutely necessary.
