Galway Bay fm newsroom – A suggestion to create a holding area for water in the Gardenfield area of Tuam has been raised at a meeting of Tuam Municipal District.
Gardenfield and Ardacong experienced heavy flooding earlier this year during a period of bad weather.
The floods impacted on the construction of the new motorway and an engineering review of drainage for the motorway is currently being undertaken.
The contractors are currently building drainage pipes to relieve excess water and it’s hoped a long-term solution can be found.
Councillor Tom McHugh is suggesting that a man-made wetland or holding area for water be created.
